In Week 2 of the NFL regular season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered his third concussion since joining the NFL, all of which had come in a 24-month span.
That’s a huge deal, and he has yet to return or have a set date for his return. There have also been many rumors that Tua was considering retirement to preserve his health.
Because of his silence on the situation made it look like he was seriously leaning toward that thought.
However, Adama Schefter refuted all that with a report before the Bills and Jets Monday Night Football matchup to conclude Week 6.
“Tua Tagovailoa does expect to play again this season. … He’s consulted with doctors and he believes he is okay to continue an NFL career that many people were calling for him to walk away from,” he said.
“Everything’s the same, there’s been no negatives, everything’s been positive,” said McDaniel.
After recently signing a new four-year $212.4 million contract, Tagovailoa, who is just 26 years old, has no plans to retire and will look to bounce back better than ever.
Miami’s Offense Has Struggled Without Tua Tagovailoa
In 2023, the Dolphins had the second-most passing yards and sixth-most passing touchdowns in the NFL.
Without Tua, those numbers have dramatically dropped in 2024. Currently, the team has the fifth-least passing yards and least passing touchdowns in the league.
Tagovailoa had a lot of critics for his play style, but there’s no doubt that the Dolphin’s offense would be performing much better with him still at the helm.
