Rob Gronkowski reveals how Patrick Mahomes might be better than Tom Brady

Rob Gronkowski not shockingly believes old pal Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback and football player of all time after the two shared over a decade together in the NFL.

Gronkowski never played in the NFL on a team not quarterbacked by Brady, winning four Super Bowls together with the Patriots and Buccaneers before both retired from the gridiron.

The legendary tight end has revealed one aspect where he believes Mahomes might be better than Brady.

‘That’s actually what makes Patrick Mahomes possibly, possibly better than the GOAT (Tom Brady) in the end… is that he can extend plays to a whole another degree,’ Gronkowski said on the ‘Dudes on Dudes’ podcast with former teammate Julian Edelman.

‘But he’s never going to be better than Tom. Even if he is. I’ll never say that because I love Tom.’

‘But the way he can extend plays, that’s what makes the Kansas City Chiefs so good. He’s about to be sacked, and he just rolls out, spins off a defender, and then he throws it to Travis Kelce or Tyreek Hill when he had him, or no-name, seventh-rounder like you, Julian.’

‘Once again, making that seventh-rounder famous like Tom did with you. That’s why these quarterbacks are great because they’re making us famous as well.’

Edelman was drafted in the middle of the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft, 23 picks before Gronkowski’s older brother Dan, who was the penultimate selection in the draft.

Brady won seven Super Bowls in his career, with Mahomes sitting on three Lombardi Trophies eight years into his NFL career.

After Brady won the Super Bowl three of his first four years in the NFL, he did not win championship No 4 until his 14th season in the league.

It is hard to fathom a world where Mahomes does not win another championship until 2030 by that same measure.

With plenty of Mahomes’ career still to play out, the comparisons to Brady will likely never end.
