The Dallas Cowboys are currently 3-3 as they enter the bye week. It hasn’t been a fun five days for the Cowboys. In Week 6, they were embarrassed at home by the Detroit Lions, falling 47-9.

The Cowboys are being criticized from all over and the latest person to call out Dallas was former quarterback Troy Aikman. In an appearance on 96.7 The Ticket on Thursday, Aikman called out CeeDee Lamb and the rest of Dallas’ WRs.

Cowboys News: Troy Aikman Calls Out Dallas WRs

Aikman believes that the Dallas receivers need to run better routes going forward.

“I think the routes are terrible. I think they run terrible routes. And I’ve thought that beyond this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) has got to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you’re not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it’s hard to play the position. That’s what I see. I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it’s because they’re anticipating they’re going to get the football on that play, but if they’re not, they don’t. And it all ties together. I’m not impressed with that part of it. “

– Troy Aikman

Aikman is currently the NFL game analyst for Monday Night Football on ESPN so he is constantly watching film. And what he saw from Dallas didn’t impress him.

The fact that he thinks when the wide receivers aren’t getting the ball on a certain play, their effort diminishes is alarming. Calling out Lamb was the most shocking part of his statement.

The Cowboys just gave Lamb a four-year, $136 million deal, so they are expecting him to be on the top of his game. And Aikman doesn’t think he is. But it’s not Lamb. Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, and Jalen Brooks need to do a better job going forward.

It starts in Week 8 as the Cowboys travel to play the San Francisco 49ers coming out of the bye. They’ll need everyone on their A game, including the WRs.
