Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young has been linked to trade rumors involving the Los Angeles Lakers for some time now. Although such a transaction doesn’t appear to be likely yet, that’s not stopping fans from taking every opportunity they get to express how much they want to see the former Oklahoma Sooners star play for the Lakers.
Speaking of Oklahoma, Young commented on how impressed he was with fellow Sooner Buddy Hield’s fit with the Golden State Warriors, who were playing the Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas Tuesday night.
Fans still want to see Trae Young get traded to the Los Angeles Lakers
The 26-year-old Young apparently was watching the Lakers-Warriors preseason game, as he made the following post on social media:
“Buddy fits perfectly with the warriors!” Young posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Several fans then took the chance to try and convince – indirectly or directly – that Young should ask for a trade to the Lakers.
“You WOULD BE THE BEST PG SINCE MAGIC ON THE LAKERS”
“And you would fit perfectly on the Lakers”
“U tryna come to the Lakers?”
“YOU WOULD FIT BETTER WITH AD DEMON OML HE AVERAGING +31 PPG AND U 11APG DEMON REQUEST THAT TRADE AND LEAVE POVERTY”
“And u would it perfectly on the Lakers instead of DLO”
“Please request a trade”
Young is still unde contract with the Hawks, and that deal will not expire until at least the end of the 2025-26 season. Young has a player option for the 2026-27 season worth $48.967 million.
One thing to note about Young with regard to the trade rumors linking him to the Lakers is the fact that he’s no longer represented by Klutch Sports, the same agency handling Los Angeles superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
