The Philadelphia Eagles have been dealing with some injury issues on the offensive line. Starting offensive tackle Jordan Mailata will be out for Philadelphia for a few weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Eagles will need help on the offensive line. One of the players that they could potentially sign on the free agent market is former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari.
Writer Thinks That the Philadelphia Eagles Should Go After Former Green Bay Packers Offensive Lineman David Bakhtiari
The Eagles have some internal options to replace Mailata over the next few weeks, but they could also look on the free agent market to bolster the offensive line. Patrick McAvoy of Sports Illustrated thinks that Philadelphia should pursue David Bakhtiari on the free agent market. McAvoy said:
“The Eagles are a run-heavy team that relies on the success of the offensive line. Because of that, it certainly makes sense to bring someone like Bakhtiari into the mix with Mailata out. Philadelphia could afford Bakhtiari and it never hurts to have a surplus of capable offensive linemen.
The Eagles make sense or Bakhtiari and should give him a call before another team can swoop in and nab him.”
Philadelphia has not been the only team that has been in on Bakhtiari. The Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Browns are two other teams that could also potentially sign him at some point this season.
Hasn’t Announced Retirement Yet
Bakhtiari hasn’t officially retired yet from the NFL, but what if he is not interested in signing with the Philadelphia Eagles or any other team for that matter? David Bakhtiari is a former All-Pro and Pro-Bowl left tackle, but his best days of him being a left tackle could very well be behind him,
His season ended very early last season with an injury with the Green Bay Packers. For now, he seems to be enjoying himself by not playing football. This feels like a good idea for the Eagles, but they may have to stick with the internal options for now.
