Watch: Steph Curry and D

Former teammates Steph Curry and D’Angelo Russell dished out their versions of the shimmy after exchanging 3-pointers in the preseason game between the Golden State Warriors and LA Lakers on Tuesday in Las Vegas.

The spirited back-and-forth between “Chef Curry” and “DLo” took place early in the third period. Lakers guard Russell was first to do the shimmy after he drained a tough fallaway triple over Curry to narrow their deficit to 60-57. In the ensuing play, it was the Warriors superstar who did the celebratory dance after he hit a 3 over Max Christie to extend their lead to 63-57.

Check out the sequence below:

Steph Curry and the Warriors went on to have the last laugh as they defeated the Lakers, 111-97, to stay undefeated in five games to date in preseason play.

Moses Moody led eight Golden State players in double digits in the win with 21 points. Steph Curry had 16, to go along with six assists, five rebounds and two steals. Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins each had 11 points while Draymond Green, Buddy Hield, Garry Payton II and Kyle Anderson added 10 apiece.

The Lakers, who dropped to 1-3 in the preseason, for their part, were led by Anthony Davis’ 24 points, followed by rookie Dalton Knecht with 19 and Rui Hachimura’s 15. Russell, who played 33 games for the Warriors in the 2019-2020 season, had six points and seven rebounds on the night.

D’Angelo Russell says he learned a lot from Steph Curry while with the Warriors

D’Angelo Russell’s stay with the Golden State Warriors lasted for only 33 games but he said he learned so many things while playing with Steph Curry which he has used to further develop his game.

The former No. 2 overall pick (2015) spoke about his time with Curry and the Warriors in the 2019-2020 season, highlighting while it was challenging playing alongside a player like Curry, it was also a great opportunity to learn from one of the best to ever did it (via USA Today):

“I’m doing a lot of spectating. I’m just seeing what I can learn from him from a distance. Then, I come up with the correct questions and the correct demeanor on what I’m trying to learn versus nagging him about stuff.

“He [Curry] plays at his own pace and is willing to learn. He’s hungry to make that next step in his career,” he added.

In the 33 games he played for the Warriors, Russell averaged 23.6 points, 6.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 32 minutes. He, however, was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves midway along with Jacob Evans, Omari Spellman and future picks for Andrew Wiggins.
