The Kansas City Chiefs, undefeated at 5-0, emerge from their bye ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch with the San Francisco 49ers.
As the NFL’s Nov. 5 trade deadline draws near, though, Chiefs fans are growing increasingly frustrated by their team’s inaction—especially after Davante Adams and Amari Cooper found new homes on Tuesday.
With two of its top expected trade candidates off the board, how should Kansas City go about replacing the injured Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown over the season’s remainder?
A reunion with Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill, unsurprisingly, could certainly be popular in Chiefs Kingdom.
After Adams found his way to the New York Jets and Cooper was acquired by the rival Buffalo Bills, many Chiefs fans couldn’t help but dream of Hill coming back to Kansas City.
“Since the Chiefs didn’t get Cooper that means they are going after Tyreek Hill right?” one fan pondered on social media.
“I think Tyreek Hill will be a Chief this week,” another tried to wish into existence.
Especially irked by the Chiefs missing out on Adams and Cooper, one fan went at general manager Brett Veach in hopes of him being pushed to trade for Hill.
But who needs reporters or even front offices when baseless or flat-out fabricated rumors can quench your thirst for Hill’s return?
Hill began his NFL career with Kansas City in 2018, immediately establishing himself as the fastest player in football. A full-fledged star at receiver a few years later, Hill was traded to the Dolphins in 2022 as he sought a contract from the Chiefs that would’ve made him the NFL’s highest-paid wide receiver.
All Kansas City has done since, of course, is win two consecutive Super Bowls, dispelling the notion Mahomes, Travis Kelce and company couldn’t win big without another All-Pro pass-catcher alongside them.
Maybe the Chiefs will do just that again come February, becoming the first team since the 1967 Green Bay Packers to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
Bringing back Hill, though, would certainly make that historic feat easier to pull off.
