Cowboys owner Jerry Jones went into full meltdown mode as he fielded questions during his regular weekly radio interview, and Shannon Sharpe was one of many who did not like what he heard.
The Dallas Cowboys were handed a crippling 47-9 loss at the hands of the Detroit Lions on Sunday, and Jones has been upset ever since. Not to mention, the demolishing came on his 82nd birthday.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, Jones revealed he was “sick” after Sunday’s loss to the Lions.
His attitude only got worse as he was questioned about the team’s lack of success and why he did not do enough during the offseason.
“You really think you’re gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I’ve done wrong without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we’re talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners,” Jerry Jones said, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “And I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about what happened Sunday.
“… One of the stupidest things I’ve ever done, that anybody had ever analyzed was buy the Cowboys. It was an idiot that did that. So idiot things can turn into good decisions. Smart things can turn into bad decisions. The facts are when you make one, you don’t really know if it’s going to be good or not at the time. You want some conversation this morning, you’re getting it.”
The Cowboys began the 2024 season on the right foot with a convincing 33-17 win against the Cleveland Browns, but they have failed to win a single home game, and now they sit with a 3-3 record as they head into their bye week.
Despite how Jerry Jones may feel, the biggest criticism of the Cowboys is their lack of adding new weapons to the team in the offseason.
The team had a shot at signing running back Derrick Henry, but he would take his talents to Baltimore, where he is putting up a stellar season.
Shannon Sharpe Rips Jerry Jones For His Radio Interview
During Tuesday’s episode of “First Take” on ESPN, Shannon Sharpe called out Jerry Jones for his behavior in the interview.
Sharpe thought it was weak that Jones would play with another person’s job all because he was upset about the state of the Dallas Cowboys.
“To put a man in fear of his job, I hate, I detest, I despise someone that will prey on the weak,” Sharpe said.
“And because Jerry Jones is in an advantageous situation, because he has the power in this situation, [the fact that] he would actually say that publicly, that tells me a lot about a man.”
Sharpe then stated how happy he would be if the Dallas Cowboys would never win another game or playoff game as long as Jerry Jones is alive.
“If the Cowboys don’t win another playoff game or another game, as long as Jerry Jones is the owner, I’ll be the happiest man in the world.”
“For [Jones] to put that man in fear for his job, you know moving forward he’s not gonna ask him anything tough because that man needs that job. And for Jerry to say this publicly, and say I’m not laughing, I’m not joking — I’m out.”
As of now, Jerry Jones has not come out and apologized for his actions.
