The Pittsburgh Steelers got a big win on the road when they took down the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6, but they also suffered a big loss in the game. Rookie center Zach Frazier went down near the end of the third quarter with an ankle injury which caused him to exit the content. He went into the blue medical tent, and then shortly after left the field with trainers to go into the locker room. He wasn’t able to return to the game following his injury.
On the play where Frazier sustained his injury, his leg seemed to get trapped under a defender and was contorted at a weird angle. On first glance, it looked like he may have injured his knee, but the damage was only done to his ankle. Fans were concerned about the severity of the injury, but Dan Moore Jr. spoke after the game and shared that he doesn’t think it is too serious. NFL insider Jordan Schultz confirmed that thought on Monday when he broke the news.
Frazier has been Pittsburgh’s best rookie so far during the 2024 season, and he has been one of their best offensive players overall. He has had an impressive start to his career, as he has been playing like a top-10 center in the league . He was replaced by Ryan McCollum for the remainder of the game in Week 6, and McCollum might be looking at a start in Week 7 as Frazier gets his ankle back to 100 percent.
Steelers’ Offensive Line Has Been Destroyed By Injuries During The 2024 Season
Pittsburgh dodged a bullet with Frazier’s injury not being too serious. They have already dealt with a ton of adversity on the offensive line and the group is only six games into the regular season. Isaac Seumalo missed the first five games, James Daniels has been ruled out for the rest of the year with a torn Achilles, and Troy Fautanu will miss at least the rest of the regular season after suffering a serious knee injury. The Steelers couldn’t afford to see another top lineman go down.
Frazier may be able to play in Week 7 against the New York Jets, which would be huge for the Steelers as they face a daunting challenge in going up against Quinnen Williams and New York’s defensive line.
When do you think Frazier will play again?
