MIAMI GARDENS — As the Miami Dolphins defense must play the rest of the season without Jaelan Phillips on one end of the line, the other half of the team’s standout duo at outside linebacker is still not ready to debut in 2024.
Dolphins edge defender Bradley Chubb will not be making his return to practice this week, while on the physically-unable-to-perform list rehabbing the torn ACL in a knee suffered Dec. 31 of last season.
“I don’t expect to see Bradley this week,” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Monday, “and as far as weeks moving forward, we’ll see. But I don’t expect that to happen this week.”
Miami (2-3), coming off its bye week, is set to visit the Indianapolis Colts (3-3) in a 1 p.m. kickoff Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The Dolphins will likely again turn to Emmanuel Ogbah, rookie Chop Robinson and veteran Tyus Bowser, who is going into his second game with the team, against the Colts.
McDaniel, though, like with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa coming back from concussion, does expect Chubb to make a return this season.
“The way he’s attacked and the way he has really come back from a pretty serious injury, I’m optimistic that he will, for sure,” the Dolphins coach said. “Just because we haven’t had any setbacks or anything. I’m optimistic for that, but I can promise you that, whenever he is back, he couldn’t have been back any sooner.
“I’ll be excited for when he gets back on the field. Don’t know when exactly that will be.”
