Monday’s primetime matchup featuring the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets delivered a touching father-son moment between Frank Gore and Frank Gore Jr.
Just hours before kickoff of this Monday Night Football contest, the Bills announced the decision to elevate rookie running back Frank Gore Jr. to the active roster. This move was made in response to the injury designation for starting running back James Cook, who was officially ruled out with a toe injury.
This move marked Gore Jr.’s first NFL appearance as a member of the Bills’ active roster.
Gore Sr. met with his son outside of the tunnel before kickoff. The five-time NFL Pro Bowler appeared to give his son some words of encouragement before his professional debut.
“Bring your dad to work day,” the Bills wrote on X.
Gore Sr. played 16 years in the NFL, including stints with both the Bills and Jets to close out his career. He’s currently the No. 3 all-time leading rusher in NFL history with 16,000 yards, trailing only Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton.
Gore Jr. entered the 2024 NFL Draft after his four-year collegiate career with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The 22-year-old running back went undrafted, but later signed with the Bills as an undrafted free agent.
Through his four seasons at the college level, Gore Jr. recorded 4,022 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns. He earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors in 2022.
