When Dak Prescott was handed a four-year $240 million contract, it did not just make him the highest-paid player in NFL history. It placed the weight of the Dallas Cowboys, and their Super Bowl hopes on to his shoulders.
This season, everyone knew “America’s team” would struggle to some extent. But their blowout loss against the Detroit Lions, that too at home, has left fans taking shots at the quarterback.
The Sunday game started in a not-so-bad manner when the Detroit Lions went up by a touchdown in the first quarter and all the Cowboys could manage was a field goal. But in that quarter itself, the Lions showed why they were hungry to impose their will.
They intercepted Prescott and handed the ball back to their offense. The away team ended up finishing that drive with just a field goal. But it set a precedent for how the $60 million yearly worth QB was going to fare.
INT No. 2 for @BrianBB_1 and he NEARLY makes it a pick 6!

When Dak Prescott left the field after the end of the first half, all he managed was one help his team score three points from one field goal. All the other three drives ended up with the Lions’ defense, stopping him from getting anywhere close to calling on his kicker.
In the second half, with the team down by four scores, all the 31-year-old could do was muster up one field goal in his first drive down the field. Then his teammate fumbled with the ball to add to the pressure. Still, it would fall on him to salvage something from the game. Instead, on the next drive, he made it worse by throwing another interception.
Fans take shots at $60 million QB Dak Prescott for horrible play
Head coach Mike McCarthy had seen enough and benched the quarterback for the rest of the game. A player getting paid $60 million and unable to do anything with the ball throughout the game was unexpected. No wonder, football fans, knowing his record-setting contract was not based on his footballing accomplishments, got a chance to take shots at him.
They took to social media and unleashed their creativity. Fans feel Dak Prescott has done nothing to show that he deserved the highest-worth deal. Check out some of those reactions below;

In the days to come, it will be on the Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys to turn it around. The bye week could not have come at a better time.
The entire team will need to work on their game as well as get healthy, as in the next five games, they will have their hands full when facing playoff contenders.
