Nobody has a lower approval rating in San Diego this October than Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
Roberts called out San Diego Padres star Manny Machado earlier this week for allegedly throwing a baseball directed at the Dodgers skipper during Game 2 of the NLDS.
However, the video of Machado’s actual throw toward the Dodger dugout looked far less “distressing” compared to how Roberts portrayed it to be (video here).
As if there was any doubt about where Padres fans stood on the argument, they let the world know before Tuesday’s first pitch. The Friars faithful showered Roberts with the loudest boos you’ll ever hear at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. when the Dodgers manager was introduced before the start of Game 3.
Roberts himself admitted that he didn’t even realize that Machado had thrown at his direction until he saw a video of it after the game.
Padres manager Mike Shildt was in no apologetic mood about the incident. When asked about Machado’s throw before Game 3, Shildt stood firmly behind his star third baseman.
