Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio also confirmed that Saleh was escorted out of the building but security. Florio noted how unusual it was since the Jets didn’t do it with Adam Gase, their most recently fired coach.

Saleh also told FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer that he was “blindsided” by the news.

“This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations,” Johnson’s statement said, adding “I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.”

The Jets were 20-36 under Saleh. They are currently 2-3 and second in the AFC East behind the 3-2 Bills.
