It’s been awkward out in Las Vegas the last week or so.
Davante Adams has requested a trade out of Las Vegas, and although a team has not cut a deal to bring him out of the desert (or at least hasn’t publicly announced it), some believe that the news may be coming soon.
Since Adams’ trade request, many have wanted to know how the issue was brought up to Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce and the front office. NFL TV personality and insider Jay Glazer seemed to have all the details on the Dan Le Batard Show. View the full episode here.
Glazer appeared on the show yesterday and stated that when it came down to Adams requesting a trade, he started with a text message to his coach to set up a meeting. Pierce had apparently thought the issue was going to be about his hamstring.
Turns out it was about wanting a trade.
Glazer would spill some tea and say, “He (Adams) comes in Monday morning and texts Antonio Pierce to meet with him…and AP thought it was about the hamstring. All of a sudden he’s like ‘Hey, I’m out. I don’t want my career to end like this.'”
To elaborate further, Glazer revealed that the Raiders organization had received calls from many different teams about trading for Adams. Part of the organization had declined the offer because it wanted to develop the relationship between the wide receiver and the team’s new head coach.
A big story around the Adams trade request was that Pierce “liked” a social media post stating the trade rumors that circulated the receiver had some truth. This was a move that happened before the trade request occurred.
Many people speculated that the move was to get back at Pierce when a report by Raidersbeat.com states that Adams informed Pierce of wanting to be traded 24 hours before Pierce’s now infamous social media “like.”
Glazer would go on to examine where Adams could end up as the season goes on. The NFL insider believes that The New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Pittsburgh Steelers are indeed in play to acquire one of the best receivers in the league.
Glazer stated that he doesn’t think the Baltimore Ravens, a team many feel has secretly made the deal due to Adams’ cryptic social media post, are not in play to acquire the wide receiver. Glazer believes the Ravens don’t really need any more weapons, as they’re a team with good chemistry right now.
Wherever Adams ends up, their chances of making a run at the postseason increase greatly, and the three teams mentioned above sure could use a little help right now.
