J.J. Watt shared a post about Justin Fields on Thursday in wake on the latest QB news out of Pittsburgh.
Fields is set to be replaced as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback by Russell Wilson, who has finally recovered from his calf injury.
Fields was asked about losing the starting quarterback job despite helping his team go 4-2 to start the season. Fields gave a classy response and said that he didn’t play well enough to keep the job and that if he had, this wouldn’t have been an issue.
Watt saw Fields’ comments and offered some thoughts on them.
“Man, what an answer from a guy who is 4-2 and gave them a legitimate chance to be 5-1 right now,” Watt wrote regarding Fields.
“Poise, maturity, class.
“Hard to not be a fan.”
Keep in mind that J.J.’s brother, TJ, is a star defensive player for the Steelers, so J.J. likely keeps a closer eye on the team than others. But there is no denying what J.J. said. Fields had a classy and mature response. And you know what? There is still a good chance he can end up starting again at some point.
The Steelers host the Jets on Sunday night. The Jets are 2-4, just traded for Davante Adams and are desperate for a win.
