Steph Curry gave a shout-out to six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan for his autobiography “Above the Noise.” The Golden State Warriors superstar shared DeRozan’s Instagram post about his biography on his story and accompanied a remark about it in the caption.
“Been on bookshelves for a while but don’t miss this deep dive into @demar_derozan story. Congrats on putting the message out and pushing the narrative of mental health taking care of yourself,” Curry wrote.
In his book, the six-time All-Star shared about his harsh upbringing in Compton, California. DeRozan posted an image containing a paragraph from his book in his post.
In the paragraph, the Kings player described his feelings about his hometown now and compared it to his feelings in the past. In the caption of his post, DeRozan described the book as his story of “chasing calm.”
Steph Curry and DeMar DeRozan have been competitors on the court for a long time. Curry has been an avid speaker on the subject of positivity, self-care and mental health.
DeRoz’s book is available for pre-order from the link in his Instagram profile bio.
Earlier this year, DeRozan moved to the Sacramento Kings, leaving the Chicago Bulls after a three-team sign-and-trade deal, including the San Antonio Spurs.
Steph Curry receives praise from DeMar DeRozan for his shooting skills
DeMar DeRozan appeared on the “Club 520 podcast,” where the Kings player talked about his journey in the league, his relationship with Kobe Bryant, getting traded in exchange for Kawhi Leonard and more.
During one segment of the podcast episode, DeRozan and the panel were discussing the reduced usage of the mid-range shot and how the game has evolved.
DeRozan praised Curry, revealing he was asked to score more 3s over his mid-range shot.
“It was a year where they came to me and said ‘you have to shoot more threes you got to do this’ and I am like why… Nobody can stop me doing this why you want me to stop doing this,” DeRozan said.
“I want people to understand like this the art of basketball, this is the art of what the game was built on. Everybody can’t be Steph Curry and that’s fine Steph is Steph is for a reason,” he added.

DeRozan pointed out his displeasure with the mid-range shot getting extinct in the league. He emphasized that young aspiring players need to learn the fundamentals of the game and understand that it is a sport played inside out, not outside in.
