Injuries have continued to pile up on the Dallas Cowboys\u2019 defensive ends through their first five games of the 2024 season. Micah Parsons suffered a\u00a0high ankle sprain\u00a0in Week 4 against the New York Giants and missed their Week 5 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Parsons is close to returning for their Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions, but it\u2019s\u00a0unclear if he\u2019ll play.<\/span><\/p>\n

DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a\u00a0Lisfranc injury\u00a0in Week 4 but won\u2019t require foot surgery since his bones aren\u2019t displaced. Unlike Parsons, the Cowboys placed Lawrence on\u00a0injured reserve\u00a0a few days before their Week 5 game. He is looking at a\u00a04-to-8-week recovery time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marshawn Kneeland suffered a\u00a0non-contact knee injury\u00a0in the first quarter of last week\u2019s game. Kneeland did not return for the rest of the game, as the medical staff carted him off the field. Mike McCarthy told the media on Monday they do not have an estimated timeline, but he will undergo a procedure this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have a total timeline, but he\u2019s scheduled for a procedure [on Tuesday], is the initial plan,\u201d\u00a0said head coach Mike McCarthy.\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ll see how that goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cowboys defensive lineman dodged a bullet. An MRI on Monday determined that Kneeland did not suffer a season-ending ACL tear, as the ligament remained intact. Instead, he suffered a\u00a0partial meniscus tear.\u00a0Despite avoiding a catastrophic injury, he will miss some time.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth-Star Telegram, the Dallas Cowboys have placed Marshawn Kneeland on injured reserve. As Harris points out, the earliest Kneeland can return is Week 11, when they play against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football, since a\u00a0BYE week\u00a0doesn\u2019t count towards a week missed. He is looking at a\u00a04-to-6-week\u00a0recovery\u00a0time.<\/p>\n
