Miami Dolphins\u00a0running back De\u2019Von Achane played 11 snaps before exiting Sunday\u2019s game against the\u00a0New England Patriots\u00a0due to injury.\u00a0Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Monday\u00a0that Achane suffered a concussion and is working through the protocol, noting that he was in high spirits.<\/p>\n

Achane had three carries for 18 yards and was targeted once before getting injured late in the first quarter. The 2023 third-round pick had played at least 62 percent of the offensive snaps each of the past three games.<\/p>\n

Running back Raheem Mostert, returning from a chest injury,\u00a0played 56% of the snaps against New England. Fourth-round rookie Jaylen Wright was Miami\u2019s leading rusher with 86 yards on 13 attempts. The Dolphins averaged 4.7 yards per carry on 41 carries in the win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we had been disappointed with what we\u2019ve produced on the ground just in general,\u201d McDaniel said on Sunday. \u201cSo it was a huge point of emphasis to really hone in on our fundamentals and the technique. To the credit of the offensive line, they punched some holes. I think the running back room was ready to put the team on their back, so to speak.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think having Raheem back was awesome. It was unfortunate to lose De\u2019Von for sure. Then you saw a rookie play some snaps where you can feel his confidence just being established.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a Week 6 bye, Achane has additional time to recover and progress through concussion protocol before Miami returns to the field. The Dolphins are back in action on Oct. 20 for a road game against the\u00a0Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
