He believes the inefficiencies on offense are not all on Fields.<\/p>\n<p>Fields completed 15 of 27 passes (55.6%) for 127 yards, two touchdowns, and a quarterback rating of 93.3 in\u00a0Sunday night\u2019s 20-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. It was by far his worst performance this season, but it wasn\u2019t awful. His receivers also let him down on several occasions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s time to pull the plug on Justin [Fields],\u201d Roethlisberger said on his\u00a0<em>Footbahlin<\/em>\u00a0podcast. \u201cDid he have a great game? No. Did he have a bad game? No. Did he miss some things? Sure. But there were some balls that were dropped.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Steelers vs Cowboys, TJ Watt making history, Establishing a passing game, and more Ep. 53\" width=\"790\" height=\"444\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rLMxt3kM9nI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were some protection issues. There are other things that were wrong with the offense besides Justin Fields. If you ask me right now, what do you think is gonna happen this week. I would say stick with [Fields].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ac_92112350\" class=\"article_chunk type_50\">\n<div class=\"froala-view custom-theme \">\n<p>Wilson has been dealing with a lingering calf injury since the start of training camp. He re-injured his calf at the Thursday practice prior to the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, and has been inactive for all five games. Wilson\u2019s participation in practice picked up last week, so the time for Mike Tomlin to make a decision could be approaching.<\/p>\n<p>When asked last Tuesday whether Fields is playing well enough for the Steelers to ride the hot hand, Tomlin did not discount that possibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a potential for that, but we\u2019re not there as I stand here today,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlay well. Win. That\u2019s our business,\u201d Tomlin added when asked what Fields could do to secure the starting quarterback position.<\/p>\n<p>The Steelers have lost two straight, so it will be interesting to see if Tomlin would make a change if Wilson is healthy.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Simms of NBC Sports has heard that the Steelers would prefer Wilson to be their starter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think anybody you talk to around the league, it kind of seems like this is what the Steelers really want anyway,\u201d Simms said on\u00a0Pro Football Talk. \u201cThey want Russell Wilson to be their starter.
