The move means Cooks will be out for at least a month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCooks had a procedure last week on his knee that led to an infection, which required a clean-out surgery last weekend,\u201d Dallas Cowboys staff writer\u00a0Nick Eatman stated\u00a0on the team\u2019s official website. \u201cWhile it was initially reported Cooks would miss this one game in Pittsburgh, it now appears this will be a multiple-week injury, prompting the Cowboys to place him on injured reserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>When Will Brandin Cooks Be Eligible to Play Again?<\/h2>\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<p>Per NFL rules, players in injury reserve can return to the field after four games, so the first game Cooks could be eligible to play is the Cowboys\u2019 November 10 game against the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles. The games Cooks will definitely miss are the Steelers game on Sunday, the\u00a0Detroit Lions\u00a0matchup on October 13, the\u00a0San Francisco 49ers\u00a0game on October 27 and the\u00a0Atlanta Falcons\u00a0matchup on November 3.<\/p>\n<p>With Cooks out, Eatman says the team \u201cwill likely lean on\u00a0Jalen Tolbert\u00a0as the starter opposite of\u00a0CeeDee Lamb.\u201d He adds to \u201clook for more snaps for\u00a0Jalen Brooks,\u00a0KaVontae Turpin\u00a0and rookie\u00a0Ryan Flournoy, who has been\u00a0inactive the first four games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Cowboys also have two receivers on the practice squad,\u00a0Jalen Cropper\u00a0and\u00a0Kelvin Harmon.<\/p>\n<p>In a corresponding move, Dallas has\u00a0signed linebacker Nick Vigil from the practice squad to their active roster. In addition, for their standard practice squad elevations, the Cowboys promoted cornerback\u00a0Amani Oruwariye\u00a0and defensive end\u00a0Carl Lawson\u00a0to the active roster.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Cowboys Will Lean on Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb Without Brandin Cooks<\/h2>\n<p>Going into the Steelers game, quarterback\u00a0Dak Prescott\u00a0says he gets that things will be tougher without Cooks in the fold, but that doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s going to try to be a \u201cSuperman\u201d trying to make up for the Cooks loss.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t break the huddle and say I\u2019ve got to go be Superman here,\u201d\u00a0Prescott told media on October 3. \u201cBut I\u2019ve been able to break some tackles. I\u2019ve been able to do some things that have help us out. As I said, use my feet more, make the throws, and so I don\u2019t think it\u2019s anything outside of my game that I\u2019ve got to try to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<p>Prescott added that he\u2019s \u201cjust being my best,\u201d and he hopes the guys on the squad do the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if I do that and guys are detailed and they do the exact same, take the same approach and being at their best and we\u2019re able to put that out there.
