Patrick Mahomes<\/span>\u00a0insists he was never concerned by\u00a0Travis Kelce<\/span>‘s slow start to the 2024 season.<\/p>\n

The tight end silenced his critics<\/span>\u00a0with a\u00a0record-breaking performance<\/span>\u00a0in the Chiefs’ 17-10 victory over the\u00a0Los Angeles<\/span>\u00a0Chargers on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Kelce amassed 89 yards over seven receptions as the back-to-back\u00a0Super Bowl<\/span>\u00a0champions moved to 4-0.<\/p>\n

It came after a few disappointing weeks for the 34-year-old, who came under fire after only eight catches and 69 yards across\u00a0Kansas<\/span>\u00a0City’s opening three games.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Sunday’s game, some of\u00a0Kelce’s Chiefs teammates showed their support\u00a0<\/span>for the tight end by wearing custom t-shirts carrying his name and picture.<\/p>\n

Kelce amassed 89 yards over seven receptions as the Super Bowl champions moved to 4-0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But Mahomes revealed that he had no doubt Kelce would come good.<\/p>\n

The quarterback, who collided with\u00a0Rashee Rice early in the game<\/span>, said:\u00a0‘The whole Kelce thing, in general, hasn’t been a worry to me.<\/p>\n

‘I know whenever we need him, he’s going to make plays. That’s what he did today.’<\/p>\n

The quarterback added: ‘I think it’s a mixture of everything.<\/p>\n

‘Obviously with Rashee going down early, you’ve got to factor that (in). And you’ve got to put Kelce back in that situation where he’s getting high-volume catches.<\/p>\n

‘Then just the Chargers taking away some of the outside stuff and leaving the middle of the field open, and we were able to get it to Trav in some of those zone coverage.’<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift missed the game<\/span>\u00a0at SoFi Stadium as Kelce\u00a0broke a Kansas City franchise record<\/span>\u00a0early into their Sunday night showdown against the Chargers.<\/p>\n

In the first quarter of the Chiefs’ 17-10 victory in Inglewood, the tight end recorded his 917th reception – breaking Tony Gonzalez’s record of 916.<\/p>\n
