Two things have been true about Bronny James and the\u00a0Lakers.<\/p>\n
From the moment he was drafted, everyone has celebrated that he and LeBron will get to make history this year,\u00a0including LeBron himself. At the same time, Bronny has been\u00a0called a \u201cdevelopment\u201d player\u00a0by head coach JJ Redick with the expectation that he\u2019ll spend a good chunk of his rookie year in the G League.<\/p>\n
That means the Lakers are probably going to have to discuss a plan for how to get the pair on the court together in a moment in which the game might not be in the balance if they want the pair to play together.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a tricky task for Redick and his staff as they have to balance a situation no other coach has had to juggle. In a recent appearance on\u00a0\u201cThe Lowe Post\u201d podcast with Zach Lowe\u00a0(side note: it\u2019s insane ESPN really laid him off), Redick revealed that the team has discussed how to handle the situation.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIn terms of that moment, yeah, we\u2019ve talked about it and we\u2019ve thought about it. We\u2019ll get it done. I don\u2019t want to commit to anything right now but that\u2019s going to happen and it\u2019s going to happen sooner rather than later.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
While everyone wants to see history made, when do you make it happen and does the game situation matter for the moment?<\/p>\n
Does it have as much impact if it comes in a game the Lakers are losing big and LeBron is about to be subbed out? Does it need to come in an actually meaningful moment of the game?<\/p>\n
Ideally, you\u2019d like it to come in a game where the Lakers are winning in a blowout and you can give the pair an extended run together for as long as LeBron wants to play garbage time. But take a glance at the Lakers\u2019 schedule that they\u2019re going to win in a blowout.<\/p>\n
Ultimately, it\u2019s a moment that hasn\u2019t happened in league history and there\u2019s a good chance it may not ever happen again. It probably doesn\u2019t need too much policing as to whether it\u2019s the right situation to do it or not.<\/p>\n
