{"id":4799,"date":"2024-09-27T07:48:30","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T07:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportnews.drinkfood.info\/?p=4799"},"modified":"2024-09-27T07:48:30","modified_gmt":"2024-09-27T07:48:30","slug":"chiefs-add-2-familiar-faces-to-their-practice-squad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportnews.drinkfood.info\/?p=4799","title":{"rendered":"Chiefs add 2 familiar faces to their practice squad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-entry-summary p-dek\">Kansas City has added running back Keaontay Ingram and tight end Jody Fortson to its practice squad.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4WsSU6\">Reporters who were in the locker room following the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 practice session on Thursday noticed two familiar players back with their teammates \u2014 and the Chiefs say both have been added to the team\u2019s practice squad.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ONX9Lk\">As expected, one of them is running back Keaontay Ingram, who was activated to the 53-man roster last week before appearing in a handful of special teams snaps during\u00a0the team\u2019s 22-17 win\u00a0over the\u00a0Atlanta Falcons\u00a0on Sunday night. The third-year player \u2014 who spent his first two seasons with the\u00a0Arizona Cardinals\u00a0\u2014 was waived from the team on Tuesday and cleared waivers on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p id=\"2Smb2s\">But the other returning player is a bit of a surprise. Tight end Jody Fortson is back with his former team, which first signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He spent two seasons on the team\u2019s practice squad. Over 2021 and 2022, he appeared in 19 games \u2014 collecting 14 receptions for 155 yards and four touchdowns \u2014 and then\u00a0missed 2023 on the team\u2019s Reserve\/Injured list\u00a0with a shoulder injury sustained during training camp. In March, Fortson was allowed to walk in free agency. He then signed with the\u00a0Miami Dolphins, but was released on August 25.<\/p>\n<p id=\"cDQ6ef\">The Chiefs already had one spot open on their practice squad. They made room for Fortson by placing undrafted rookie tight end Baylor Cupp on the practice squad injured list.<\/p>\n<p id=\"lcvF6R\">Kansas City still has\u00a0one spot open on its 53-man roster.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kansas City has added running back Keaontay Ingram and tight end Jody Fortson to its practice squad.
