The\u00a0Miami Dolphins\u00a0offense struggled in a big way in Week 3, failing to score a touchdown against the\u00a0Seattle Seahawks\u00a0in their 24-3 loss. With\u00a0Tua Tagovailoa\u00a0on IR until at least Week 7, the Dolphins could look to trade for a quarterback.<\/p>\n
After the\u00a0Carolina Panthers\u00a0benched\u00a0Bryce Young, the Dolphins could take a chance on a player drafted No. 1 overall in 2023.\u00a0Matt Jones of The Athletic\u00a0put a trade package together for the two sides.<\/p>\n
Dolphins would get:\u00a0<\/strong>Young<\/p>\n Panthers would get:\u00a0<\/strong>2025 fourth-round pick<\/p>\n \u201cOf all of the teams in the league, the Dolphins may be the most desperate at the quarterback position because of the great uncertainty\u00a0that hangs over\u00a0Tua Tagovailoa\u00a0and the big drop-off between Tagovailoa and backup\u00a0Skylar Thompson,\u201d\u00a0Jones wrote\u00a0on September 25. \u201cThe Dolphins have two dynamic wide receivers in\u00a0Tyreek Hill\u00a0and\u00a0Jaylen Waddle\u00a0and they combined for just seven catches and 68 yards on 10 targets with Thompson under center this past Sunday.<\/p>\n \u201cYoung may have struggled in Carolina, but he 1) started prematurely, 2) played behind a shaky offensive line and supporting cast and 3) for coaches who haven\u2019t demonstrated a strong understanding of how to tailor a system and game plan to a young quarterback. Mike McDaniel, on the other hand, has displayed a gift for identifying what a young quarterback does well, how to capitalize on that and how to mask his deficiencies while still developing him.\u201d<\/p>\n While Tagovailoa suffered his third known concussion in the NFL, he plans to continue playing. At this point, the timetable for his return is uncertain.<\/p>\n However, the Miami Dolphins, a team that made the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, were expected to be in that same position in 2024. Without Tagovailoa, that\u2019d be significantly more difficult to accomplish.<\/p>\n Despite that reality and how poorly the offense performed with\u00a0Skylar Thompson\u00a0under center, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that a trade for a quarterback \u201cdoesn\u2019t seem likely.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhile the Dolphins make plans at quarterback for at least the next three weeks without Tua Tagovailoa (IR, concussion), a trade for a passer doesn\u2019t seem likely at this point\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nDolphins Trade for a Quarterback \u2018Doesn\u2019t Seem Likely\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n
