The 29-year-old expressed confidence about his ability to make an impact right away, per\u00a0Ravens.com Editorial Director Ryan Mink: \u201cI feel like I had a great day today. I feel like I can contribute now. It\u2019s not my decision, it\u2019s the guys upstairs. It\u2019s their decision to see if I can play or not, but I feel like I\u2019m in great shape.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"AdThrive_Content_1_desktop\" class=\"adthrive-ad adthrive-content adthrive-content-1 adthrive-ad-cls\" data-google-query-id=\"\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/18190176,25816858\/AdThrive_Content_1\/5ad7479721520f50ab7da88e_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"google-ad-manager-fallback-container\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s a bold statement considering Ngakoue hasn\u2019t appeared in a game\u00a0since Week 13\u00a0of last season. He\u2019s also going against history following a brief and disappointing previous stop with the Ravens back in the 2020 season.<\/p>\n<h2>Yannick Ngakoue Can Make Amends<\/h2>\n<p>Nine games,\u00a0three starts and as many sacks\u00a0was all Ngakoue had to show for his first spell at M&amp;T Bank Stadium. Hardly the level of production the Ravens expected when they\u00a0traded a third-round draft pick\u00a0to the\u00a0Minnesota Vikings\u00a0almost four years ago.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s not deterred by the past, and Ngakoue believes fate has given him the chance to make amends,\u00a0according to Mink: \u201cWe went through peaks and valleys, just going to different spots and different places, but I feel like ultimately it was meant for me to come back here and to give my best football.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The best version of Ngakoue can still be an asset for the Ravens. He\u2019s a skilled technician rushing the passer, evidenced by this \u201ccross chop\/club\u201d technique on a rare successful rep for the Ravens, highlighted by\u00a0Aaron Day of DLineVids.<\/p>\n<p>Ngakoue was far from his best last season, logging just four sacks for the\u00a0Chicago Bears. His lowest tally during a single season.<\/p>\n<div id=\"AdThrive_Content_3_desktop\" class=\"adthrive-ad adthrive-content adthrive-content-3 adthrive-ad-cls\" data-google-query-id=\"\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/18190176,25816858\/AdThrive_Content_3\/5ad7479721520f50ab7da88e_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"google-ad-manager-fallback-container\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Finishing pressures was a problem, but Ngakoue at least showed he remains a versatile edge defender with a nuanced rush plan. Like when he swapped speed for raw power on this bull rush highlighted by\u00a0Nicholas Moreano of CHGO Bears.<\/p>\n<p>Recent numbers don\u2019t make for good reading, but Ngakoue still has a pedigree that includes leading the league in forced fumbles back in 2017. He also has 69 career sacks to his credit, proof Ngakoue is the other established commodity the Ravens need in the pass-rush department.<\/p>\n<h2>Ravens Needed Established Pressure Specialist<\/h2>\n<p>The Ravens are still getting to quarterbacks, although not as often as last season when they topped the sack charts with 60 takedowns. Part of the problem has been the lack of an established QB hunter to support veteran\u00a0Kyle Van Noy.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s delivered two sacks in\u00a0each of his last two games, but Van Noy needs help. He got it last season from\u00a0Jadeveon Clowney, but the latter joined the\u00a0Carolina Panthers\u00a0in free agency.<\/p>\n<p>The sense of what the Ravens were lacking along the front seven was summed up by head coach\u00a0John Harbaugh.
