Vanderbilt was a\u00a0key\u00a0piece to the\u00a0Lakers&#8217;\u00a0run to the Western Conference Finals two years ago, as he brought defensive versatility that is hard to come by.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_bg3tlon50\">Vanderbilt struggled with a lingering bone spur that was also cleared up during the procedures. Before the start of the 2023-24 season, Vanderbilt was\u00a0struggling\u00a0with a heel issue that caused him to miss the beginning of the season. He found his groove sometime in January, but the foot issue came up once the calendar flipped to February.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_2bxi2cqal\">Earlier in the year, Vanderbilt shared his frustration on being unable to help his team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_oaeujeeog\">\u201cIt\u00a0definitely\u00a0was frustrating not being available,\u201d\u00a0Vanderbilt\u00a0said.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0been a long year dealing with injuries and trying to get healthy to be there for the team.\u00a0So it\u00a0definitely\u00a0was frustrating, especially knowing I could have contributed to some of the stuff we\u00a0were lacking\u00a0this year.\u00a0So definitely was frustrating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_o22ertkm6\">\u201cThe thing with foot injuries is they just take time,\u201d\u00a0he said.\u00a0\u201cI put myself in\u00a0position\u00a0to be prepared and give myself the best chance\u00a0to potentially play\u00a0and\u00a0I think attacking the full rehab process and doing everything possible\u00a0that I could\u00a0to put myself on the floor.\u00a0So that was the process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_067uw7d09\">A healthy Vanderbilt is everything and more for the Lakers. When he is healthy, he brings toughness, defensive versatility, and can guard 1-4 on the court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tagStyle_16dbupz-o_O-style_mxvz7o-o_O-style_12bse5w-o_O-style_6s3kpz\" data-mm-id=\"_xg3rj2y13\">His numbers may not shine on the stat sheet, but he brings all the little things needed for a championship-level team.
