So, at the end of the day, my teammates help me be great so shout out to them, shout out to our defense, shout out to everybody else on the offense for pushing me each and every day of practice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fields added that he\u2019s \u201cdefinitely glad and feeling good to be in this position\u201d with the Steelers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Starting 3-0] means a lot,\u201d the quarterback acknowledged later. \u201cBut at the end of the day, it\u2019s not just me winning games, it\u2019s the whole team. So, I\u2019m just happy to be a part of this team. Happy to be a part of this organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Justin Fields Continues to Play Winning Football With Steelers<\/h2>\n<p>Although Fields has yet to blow the\u00a0NFL\u00a0world away, he\u2019s played winning football early on and that continued against the Chargers.<\/p>\n<p>Fields finished with his best passing total of the year at\u00a0245 yards and a touchdown\u00a0through the air. He also took the ball into the end zone himself, rushing for 6 yards and a TD. Plus, Fields was incredibly efficient as a passer with a 78.1 completion percentage.<\/p>\n<p>The former first-round talent did make one mistake on September 22, forcing a short pass which was tipped and eventually intercepted, but it was an otherwise strong performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The defender] just matched the stick route way too fast, and I just shouldn\u2019t have thrown the ball,\u201d Fields said after the game, regarding his interception. \u201cGot tipped, but at the end of the day, either should have worked the other side of the field [and] thrown it to the flat because they were so soft, or just throw the ball away. Especially when we were already in field goal range at the 40-yard line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat can\u2019t happen,\u201d the Steelers signal-caller concluded. \u201cThat can\u2019t happen again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the lone Week 3 turnover, Fields probably played his best outing overall versus the Chargers. As a reminder, LAC came into Pittsburgh with the top-ranked defense in the NFL in terms of points allowed.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Justin Fields Was Appreciative of Calvin Austin\u2019s \u2018YAC\u2019 on Steelers Touchdown<\/h2>\n<p>Fields was also very appreciative of his teammates after the game, especially wide receiver\u00a0Calvin Austin III\u00a0\u2014 who had a huge outing that included a catch-and-run touchdown that went for 55 yards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, huge play,\u201d Fields said of Austin\u2019s long TD. Joking that \u201cyou always appreciate the YAC \u2014 the yards after catch \u2014 [as a quarterback].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Austin finished with four receptions for 95 yards and the aforementioned touchdown. He led the Steelers passing attack on Sunday, but it was a much more well-rounded offense in Week 3.<\/p>\n<p>Najee Harris\u00a0ran for 70 yards with another 16 through the air,\u00a0George Pickens\u00a0pitched in 57 yards, tight end\u00a0Pat Freiermuth\u00a0and wide receiver\u00a0Scotty Miller\u00a0both topped 30 receiving yards and veteran\u00a0Cordarrelle Patterson\u00a0rushed for another 33.<\/p>\n<p>It was a balanced approach for offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, and this unit is starting to look more and more comfortable with Fields at the helm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GettyPittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields talked about the idea of proving people wrong after the win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
