This wasn\u2019t the first time he had made such comparisons. Appearing on the Pat McAfee show this August, Belichick pointed out the leadership qualities Mahomes shared with Brady from his Patriots days.\u00a0<em>\u201cI do think one of the biggest things for them is great leadership from quarterback. Patrick Mahomes is the hardest worker on the team, which is a great thing to have. We had that with Tom Brady, so nobody slacks off when the quarterback doesn\u2019t slack off,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Belichick expressed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dom-traversal_domPTag__RMrin\">While the ex-Patriots coach has continued to heap praise on Mahomes, his current\u00a0<strong>Chiefs<\/strong>\u00a0head coach,\u00a0<strong>Andy Reid,<\/strong>\u00a0chimed in with his thoughts.\u00a0<em>\u201cGreat ones make everyone around them better. They grind on guys when they need to and pat them on the back when it\u2019s time,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Reid shared. As both coaches continue their praises for multiple times Super Bowl Champions, Mahomes has mostly denied those comparisons by saying he\u2019s\u00a0<em>\u201cnowhere near.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"dom-traversal_domNewH2__H0HKD\"><strong>Patrick Mahomes downplaying GOAT Status in the NFL<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"dom-traversal_domPTag__RMrin\">In just six seasons as the Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 starting quarterback, Patrick Mahomes has already etched his name into NFL history, racking up three Super Bowl titles, three Super Bowl MVPs, and two NFL MVP awards\u2014all by the age of 28. Achievements like these are almost unheard of in the NFL, especially at such a young age. Reflecting on his meteoric rise, Mahomes said, \u201c<em>You have to build a consistency of a career. You see that in any sport. I\u2019ve had a great run, and I think I\u2019ve done a great job so far. But it\u2019s hard to take away from what Tom did for so long, what Peyton Manning did, or Aaron Rodgers<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dom-traversal_domPTag__RMrin\">While Mahomes acknowledges he\u2019s still chasing legends like Tom Brady, his trajectory suggests he could catch up sooner rather than later. Brady\u2019s seven Super Bowl titles remain the gold standard, but with Mahomes potentially playing for another decade or more, surpassing that milestone doesn\u2019t seem far-fetched. After all, Brady retired at 45\u2014the oldest player to ever do so\u2014while Mahomes is just entering his prime. Even so, Mahomes isn\u2019t rushing the comparisons. \u201c<em>That\u2019s something I\u2019ll talk about when I\u2019m done playing. Then, people can make those decisions<\/em>,\u201d he said, leaving the final verdict for the end of his career.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dom-traversal_domPTag__RMrin\">But before those conversations can even begin, Mahomes has his sights set on a three-peat with the Chiefs. If he can lead Kansas City to more Super Bowl victories, the comparison with Brady will only intensify.
