KANSAS CITY Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has made it clear to Patrick Mahomes that he expects him to step up after their struggles against the Cincinnati Bengals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It took their early 2024-25\u00a0NFL\u00a0season to 2-0 after beating the\u00a0Baltimore Ravens\u00a0in a thriller during Week 1 of the campaign.<\/p>\n

However, the\u00a0Chiefs\u00a0gave away the ball three times during the Bengals game, including two interceptions by\u00a0Mahomes, 29.<\/p>\n

And\u00a0Reid\u00a0has made it clear to his quarterback and the rest of the offense that there\u2019s work to be done to get their year going.<\/p>\n

\u201cTurnovers, they finish you. They seldom give you an opportunity to win the game,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We came out with a win, but we\u2019ve got to take care of business there.”<\/p>\n

Mahomes and the offense struggled through the Bengals’ win, failing to deliver their usual fluency.<\/p>\n

And the two-time MVP-winning QB admitted himself he was not up to his usual best.<\/p>\n

“I thought we did a lot of good things, but the turnovers can\u2019t happen,” Mahomes said.<\/p>\n

Reid also sent his team a message after the huge loss of Isiah Pacheco.<\/p>\n

The running-back is set to miss at least six weeks with a broken fibula.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs were forced into signing ex-player Kareem Hunt\u00a0as his replacement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

But Reid is confident his offensive options and new RB can fill the gap left by Pachecho.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Chiefs\u00a0flashed their latest piece of jewelry at a special ceremony on Thursday, June 13.<\/p>\n

Kansas City beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime in February.<\/p>\n

And the rings feature 22 diamonds to represent the points Kansas City scored in the second half and overtime.<\/p>\n

Nineteen diamonds also represent their 11 straight winning seasons and eight AFC West titles in a row.<\/p>\n

While there is also commemorative patch for the late Norma Hunt, the matriarch of the family which owns the Chiefs who died last summer.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ll go with the guys that we have here for now,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Veach is going through his lists and looking at people.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ll just see where that goes, but we\u2019re blessed to have some good people here.<\/p>\n

“I have confidence in them. I just haven\u2019t experienced it with them.”<\/p>\n

Pacheco, 25, could even be out for longer than his set period, and is likely to be put on injured reserve.<\/p>\n

After reports that Pacheco could be sidelined for up to a month, Reid warned, “It\u2019ll probably be more than that.”<\/p>\n

The Chiefs will now have Hunt, Carson Steele and Samaje Perine to pick from in the running-back area.<\/p>\n
