Tua Tagovailoa has been ruled out for at least four weeks after suffering a third concussion in the NFL – but Tyreek Hill has provided a positive update on his teammate’s condition<\/p>\n

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is “doing great” after his third concussion in the\u00a0NFL, teammate Tyreek Hill has revealed to the press. Despite\u00a0being placed on the injured reserve list\u00a0following a 31-10 defeat by the Buffalo Bills, Tagovailoa’s condition seems to be improving.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins are proceeding with caution due to Tagovailoa’s history of concussions, and\u00a0while there have been calls for him to retire\u00a0considering the uncertain long-term effects of head injuries, Hill’s update was reassuring.<\/p>\n

“Tua is doing great,” he shared with journalists on Thursday. “I’m sure y’all done asked everybody in the locker room that, but he’s doing amazing.<\/p>\n

“How the locker room is going – the biggest thing that we want is to make sure that Tua is all right. Once I called him the day after or whatever, I heard his voice, and heard that he was in good spirits, I was cool, man.<\/p>\n

“Because to me this s— is bigger than football. Our life is bigger than football. We’re also individuals with families, we’ve got stuff going on. Once I heard that, it was cool.”<\/p>\n

With Tua Tagovailoa sidelined for a minimum of four weeks and no certain return date, the Miami Dolphins are entrusting Skylar Thompson with quarterback duties. To further bolster their line-up, Miami has recruited Tyler Huntley from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, although he’ll need some time before vying for a spot on the active roster.<\/p>\n

Despite the hit to the team losing Tagovailoa represents, star player Hill isn’t altering his game prep or performance standards. “At the end of the day, you don’t want to do anything outside of your job, because at the end of the day you’re going to be held responsible for it, and you’re going to be held accountable for it,” Hill declared.<\/p>\n

“This is why we practice. Do what you’re coached, trust your fundamentals and techniques and you’ll be all right. When it’s time to make a play, it’s going to happen.”<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Hill expressed excitement about how Thompson may change up the offense, noting he might better evade defenders.<\/p>\n

“He’s a little bit faster than Tua, so I’m a little bit excited about that,” Hill continued. “Skylar, he does a great job of extending plays. As you seen, man, when he came in [two years ago] when we played against Buffalo, he did a good job of stretching the ball downfield and giving them a different look.”<\/p>\n

“He has some great qualities to himself. He’s fearless, he’s not afraid of anything and he’s a real competitor. I love that.”<\/p>\n

Thompson is set for the starting role come Sunday as the Dolphins take on the Seattle Seahawks, who have impressively kicked off the season without a loss.<\/p>\n
