<\/p>\nAccording to Reuters news agency, Argentine police said they were called to the hotel in the Palermo neighborhood after receiving reports of an \u201caggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol\u201d.<\/p>\n
The hotel manager said he heard a loud noise at the back of the venue. When police arrived, they found Liam Payne falling from a balcony. Paramedics confirmed the singer was dead.<\/p>\n

Alberto Crescenti, director of emergency medical services, explained to Argentina\u2019s Todo Noticias television channel that Payne fell from a height of 13-14 meters and \u201csuffered serious injuries that led to immediate death.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got there in time to try to resuscitate him, but there was nothing more we could do,\u201d Crescenti said, adding that authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding Payne\u2019s death and were conducting an autopsy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m in shock right now. Liam was always so good to me,\u201d American singer Charlie Puth shared on Instagram. \u201cHe was one of the first big artists I worked with. I can\u2019t believe he\u2019s gone.\u201d<\/p>\n
American music channel MTV, streaming service Spotify and the British music awards BRIT all expressed their grief on social media, sending condolences to the singer\u2019s family and loved ones.<\/p>\n

Payne had a son named Bear with British television presenter and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl in 2017.<\/p>\n
Witnesses said the incident happened at around 5pm local time. The pop star had been acting erratically in the hotel lobby earlier.<\/p>\n
According to an audio recording of the incident obtained by the Buenos Aires Security Department, police received a call from hotel staff asking for urgent help with a drunk guest.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen he woke up, he was destroying the entire room and we need you to send someone,\u201d the employee said, adding that the guest\u2019s life was in danger because the hotel room had a balcony.<\/p>\n
Payne, who has a 7-year-old son named Bear with his ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole, was recently spotted in Argentina with his new girlfriend Kate Cassidy on September 30. The pair posted several posts together on social media, showing them enjoying their vacation.<\/p>\n
On October 2, the couple even attended a concert by Niall Horan, former member of One Direction, at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n
