It’s that point of the NFL season when the trade deadline is nearing, and plenty of proposed trades are dominating the internet. Some suggestions are outlandish and hard to imagine becoming a reality, while others seem more plausible, especially for a team expected to be sellers at the deadline.<\/p>\n

The Patriots could be one of those teams this yearin order to add more draft picks to their arsenal in 2025 and beyond, even more so, with Eliot Wolf being the leading voice regarding everything to do with the roster now.<\/p>\n

But if New England were to be sellers, that would mean they would forfeit the 2024 season, which seems to go against everything the fans would want. That’s partially what makes one proposed trade of their best offensive weapon harder to fathom.<\/p>\n

While most fans would be more accepting of some players being traded to other teams, the idea of running back Rhamondre Stevenson even being considered by the new regime could send them into a meltdown. We already saw what the team looked like in Week 6 with Stevenson unable to play, so imagining the team without him completely is not a reality anyone would hope to see.<\/p>\n

Trading Rhamondre Stevenson before the deadline would mean the end is near for the Patriots<\/h2>\n

The proposed trade for the Patriots includes sending Stevenson to the Cowboys to instantly improve their backfield since Ezekiel Elliott isn’t cutting it like they thought he would upon his return. Nick Villano of FanSided.com\u00a0believes they’re the perfect landing spot for the New England running back\u00a0and that they could acquire him for a fair price given his fumbling concerns this season so far.<\/p>\n

It’s certainly a trade that would make sense for Dallas, who have been struggling far more this season than expected, and adding Stevenson would give them the much-needed backfield threat they have been lacking.<\/p>\n

And while receiving a draft pick in exchange would be welcomed in New England, moving on from the\u00a0most productive offensive weapon that Drake Maye has to work with\u00a0doesn’t seem like a good idea currently or long term.<\/p>\n

Running backs aren’t widely respected in the NFL, so trading or not re-signing them isn’t at all shocking, but are the Patriots really in a position to even consider doing such a thing right now, especially when they’re trying to build around who they expect to be the future of their franchise?<\/p>\n

The answer should be a unanimous no.<\/p>\n

Other players could be shipped off before the November 5 deadline, with the most rumored players being Kendrick Bourne, Jonathan Jones, and Joshua Uche, but Stevenson should easily be off-limits for several reasons.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
