We talked about maybe changing numbers but I think it’s too deep in the season to do that.” VanSumeren, 24, better get used to it. Because this is more than a gimmick, more than an experiment. The second-year linebacker from Michigan State looks like a legitimate option to play some fullback the rest of the year. Earlier this season, VanSumeren got the first offensive snap of his career in the Tampa game but on Sunday against the Giants, the Eagles unleashed him even more. In the 28-3 win, VanSumeren played five offensive snaps and had some key blocks to spring big runs.

The Eagles suddenly now have a legitimate fullback in Ben VanSumeren – PhillyVoice
Moore expressed that the coaching staff discovered that VanSumeren could maybe play on offense when he served in something of a scout team role during practice. “Sometimes as you go through training camp, sometimes guys on offense have to help the defense and defensive guys have to help the offense just to show different looks and line ups and presentations,” Moore said. “Him just kind of unintentionally lining up on offense to aid the defense gives us the look of, hey, this guy has got some athleticism, and obviously it kind of just kept building as we went. So we’ll see where it takes us.” It’ll be interesting to see if VanSumeren’s offensive role continues to grow, and if he also becomes a part of the passing game. Given the success of the plays he was involved in on Sunday, VanSumeren is sure to get more opportunities, and it’s not like they’re going to exclusively call run plays when he is in the game.

Eagles announce 3 roster moves – BGN
SIAKI IKA. Ika, who turns 24 in early November, is a brand new addition. After playing college football at LSU and Baylor, Ika was selected by the Cleveland Browns with a third-round pick (No. 98 overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft. Ika only played 100 defensive snaps as a rookie, logging zero stats. The Browns waived him in late August and then re-signed him to the practice squad. Then they cut him two days after the Browns’ loss to the Eagles. Now in Philly, the 6’3”, 335 pound Ika figures to provide nose tackle depth behind Jordan Davis. Of course, Ika is a lot less athletic than Davis is.

Buyers and sellers ahead of 2024 NFL trade deadline: Can Lions add key piece? Titans teardown on? – NFL.com
It’d be blasphemous to leave the Tradester off any list of buyers — based on history alone, GM Howie Roseman’s team will always land in this category. He has a knack for making moves to try boosting his club, and he often fleeces opposing franchises. Even if last year’s deal for Kevin Byard didn’t work out, Roseman won’t be timid. With left tackle Jordan Mailata going on IR, offensive-line depth could be where the Eagles look to improve — if Philly can find anyone willing to part with a blocker at this stage of the season. And adding another edge rusher wouldn’t hurt. Roseman only has seven 2025 draft picks to play with, so he might need to get creative if he wants to pull any levers on the trade market.

Fantasy Football WR Report: Man, zone coverage performance ahead of NFL Week 8 – PFF
The Bengals have played man coverage at an above-average rate this season and rank slightly above average in yards allowed per reception (11.0), first down-plus-touchdown rate allowed (37.5%) and yards allowed per coverage snap (5.33) from man. A.J. Brown leads the league in fantasy points per route run (1.23), yards per route run (5.79) and PFF receiving grade (92.7) versus man coverage, making this an ideal matchup for him to continue as a high-end fantasy option.

Game Review – PHI 28, NYG 3 – Iggles Blitz
Just about everyone on the DL played well. Jordan Davis only got a handful of snaps because the Giants went into passing mode, but Davis was good against the run early on. Jalen Carter had 2 sacks and was regularly disruptive. Milton Williams got into the backfield a few times. Moro Ojomo just missed a sack. Thomas Booker had 3 tackles and played with relentless effort, as usual. The edge rushers were even better. Josh Sweat had a sack and deflected a pass. The sack came when he beat a TE and OT to get to the QB. Bryce Huff played his best game as an Eagle. He had 2 tackles, a sack and 2 QB hits. He also blew up a running play. Nolan Smith was really good. He had a sack and 2 TFLs. Huff and Smith both created sacks for other players as well. Rookie Jalyx Hunt had his first NFL sack. He also knocked the ball out, but the Eagles couldn’t recover it. The best part of the pass rush was watching them collapse the pocket. Jones was sacked 8 times. He was pressured a lot more than that. This was a really impressive performance by the whole group.

Sizing up every NFL team’s cap space ahead of trade deadline – ESPN
18. Philadelphia Eagles. Cap space: $14.9 million. Several of the team’s star players will see significant jumps in their cap numbers in 2025, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, who will go from $13.6 million to $21.8 million. With $76 million currently committed to four players alone (Hurts, A.J. Brown, Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson), Philadelphia isn’t in a position where it can spend too liberally in the short term to midterm and therefore probably won’t add too hefty a contract at the deadline. That said, general manager Howie Roseman is one of the most active trade makers in the NFL. He has seven draft picks in 2025 to work with, including three fifth-rounders.

Bengals vs. Eagles Injury Report: Orlando Brown Jr. limited; Geno Stone DNP – Cincy Jungle
As the Cincinnati Bengals get ready for Sunday’s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, they have a couple of starters who are in jeopardy of missing the game. On the team’s official injury report, left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. was listed as a limited participant in practice after a knee injury knocked him out of last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Media, who attended practice Wednesday, noted that Brown was in uniform and did go through stretches but did not participate in individual or team drills in the open portion of practice. Safety Geno Stone (shin) was listed as a non-participant. After a scary scene in Cleveland, reports are that Stone looks to have avoided serious injury, as he was seen in the locker room walking under his own power after the game. Stone’s participation will be something to watch throughout the week.

Dan Quinn Presser: Jayden Daniels will not practice today – Hogs Haven
Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury at the end of a 46-yard run on Washington’s opening drive against the Panthers last week. Dan Quinn said he won’t be practicing today, but he will get treatment and participate in meetings. Daniels is close to getting back on the practice field, and they will be able to evaluate if he is able to play this week when they host the Chicago Bears. If he can’t play, Marcus Mariota will get the start with Jeff Driskel backing him up.

Cowboys injuries: Micah Parsons, DaRon Bland do not practice – Blogging The Boys
Although the team is hopeful he can return for this week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, Micah Parsons was not partaking in the team portion of practice. He was working with the trainers Wednesday. He has an outside shot to return to team activities later in the week, and we’ll see how his involvement progresses. Cowboys’ cornerback DaRon Bland also did not practice. Caelen Carson (shoulder) has been out since Week 3, but had a full practice on Wednesday. Eric Kendricks also was listed as a limited participant as he works back from a calf injury.

The bizarre Cowboys fan tours are disruptive, treat players like animals, and feature an A.I. Jerry Jones – SB Nation
It’s not unusual for teams around the NFL to offer stadium tours for fans, but Jerry Jones has taken the idea to extreme, weird levels that are patently Jerry Jones. It has players wondering what the hell is going on, fans wandering around in places no member of the public should be — and there’s also an A.I. powered Jerry Jones waiting to receive questions from fans who are willing to pay a premium fee. This would all be great if the Cowboys were dominating in 2024, but instead the team, once thought of as a lock to at least make the playoffs, is struggling at 3-3 while getting lapped by the Commanders in the NFC East.

Giants’ co-owner John Mara preaches patience with Joe Schoen, Brian Daboll – Big Blue View
“I think to try to be more patient than maybe I’ve been in recent years,” Mara said. “He preached that all the time. I’ve probably been guilty of not being patient enough in recent years. That’s one of the reasons I’m committed to Joe and Brian Daboll and giving them a chance to turn this thing around.” Showing the patience his father did is a test for Mara. “It’s very difficult because the last 10 or 12 years have not been very good for our fans. It makes it particularly difficult. But you’ve got to do the right thing. And we are committed to doing that, committed to seeing this process through.” There is no doubt that Schoen and Daboll, first-timers in their respective roles, have made some mistakes. Perhaps it is because they still have not solved the quarterback situation, but even though it is Year 3 it still seems like they are the beginning of a build. It seems like Mara is inclined to give them more time to finish what they have started. Mara refused to discuss quarterback Daniel Jones.

Bill Belichick’s criticism of the Giants seems a little self-serving (like much of his criticism) – PFT
That’s quite an indictment of Giants G.M. Joe Schoen. But if Bill is going to land in what many believe is his preferred destination with the kind of power to which he’s accustomed, Belichick needs Mara to make a clean sweep. “I really don’t understand,” Belichick added regarding the decision to let Barkley go. “He was their best player. For a couple million dollars more they could have kept him. Instead, I guess they got a guard or somebody. I don’t know. The offensive line doesn’t look very good.”

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links … How Eagles concocted a legitimate fullback out of nowhere –
