Rafael Nadal\u00a0has hinted he may have to cancel his scheduled last professional tennis match due to \u2018physical\u2019 issues after he played at the Six Kings Slam.<\/p>\n

Nadal, 38, recently featured at a\u00a0star-studded six-player exhibition event\u00a0in\u00a0Saudi Arabia\u00a0in his penultimate tournament\u00a0before he officially enters retirement.<\/p>\n

The 22-time Grand Slam champion \u2013 who lost to\u00a0Carlos Alcaraz\u00a06-3 6-3 in the semi-finals, and was then beaten by Novak Djokovic in the third-place match \u2013 has now admitted he may have to \u2018step away\u2019\u00a0from the upcoming Davis Cup Finals.<\/p>\n

The team-based tournament is due to be\u00a0Nadal\u2019s final appearance<\/a>\u00a0before he brings his remarkable career to an end and hangs up his racket for good.<\/p>\n

Spanish tennis legend Nadal, who has badly struggled with injuries in recent years, has vowed to do everything he can to get himself fit to play for his nation but admits it may come too soon.<\/p>\n

\u2018Will I be ready for the Davis Cup? Emotionally, yes, that\u2019s for sure; physically and tennis-wise, I still have a month ahead of me,\u2019 Nadal said.<\/p>\n

\u2018I will prepare, I will try to be in shape to help the team win. If I feel ready and the captain feels the same way, it will be his decision. If I don\u2019t feel ready, I will be the first to step away and see how I can help.<\/p>\n

\u2018First, I have to be the one who feels competitive to get into the game, then you can win or lose, that\u2019s part of the sport. If I\u2019m not 100 per cent or if I\u2019m far from winning my match, I won\u2019t go on the court.\u2019<\/p>\n

Nadal goes down as one of the greatest \u2013 and most loved \u2013 tennis players in the entire history of men\u2019s tennis.<\/p>\n

His Big Three rivals, Roger Federer and Djokovic, have both paid emotional tributes to the King of Clay, who\u00a0clinched a record total of 14 French Open titles.<\/p>\n

\u2018What a career, Rafa!\u2019 Federer said. \u2018I always hoped this day would never come.<\/p>\n

\u2018Thank you for the unforgettable memories and all your incredible achievements in the game we love. It\u2019s been an absolute honour.\u2019<\/p>\n

Djokovic, meanwhile, added: \u2018Rafa, one post is not enough to express the respect I have for you and what you have done for our sport. \u2018You have inspired millions of children to start playing tennis and I think that\u2019s probably greatest achievement anyone can wish for.\u2019<\/p>\n
