The San Francisco 49ers have a massive contest against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.\u00a0 San Francisco (3-3) currently sits in first place in the NFC West, however, it is a tight race at the moment with multiple teams in that division.<\/p>\n

Kansas City is also in first place in their division, however, their 5-0 record has them with a comfortable lead over the second place team in their division.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahead of their huge matchup on Sunday, San Francisco decided to make a change on their team.<\/p>\n

An injury to San Francisco\u2019s starting kicker Jake Moody in Week 5 resulted in a high ankle sprain. Sadly, the team lost their signed replacement Matthew Wright to the same play, though he is suffering from a shoulder injury.<\/span><\/p>\n

K Anders Carlson has now been promoted from the practice squad. Wright\u2019s injury was worse than expected,\u00a0according<\/a>\u00a0to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan on October 18:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMatt Wright\u00a0will end up going on IR. He\u2019s worse than we expected. So, he can\u2019t get back. Jake Moody is still week-to-week, high-ankle sprain. Not expecting him next week either, but hopefully after the Bye,\u201d Shanahan said.<\/p>\n

Shanahan was then asked if Carlson was allowed to tackle. While\u00a0the San Francisco coach\u00a0said he can tackle if the last resort, he doesn\u2019t want Carlson making plays.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefinitely is allowed to, but only in case of emergency,\u201d Shanahan explained. \u201cSo, I hope he isn\u2019t attacking anything, but if your choice is just to give up a touchdown or not, we\u2019ll always choose to not give up the touchdown, but hopefully he can stay out of harm\u2019s way.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
