Patrick Mahomes\u00a0could be throwing to practice squad wide receivers when the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. The Chiefs had a surprise hamstring issue pop up on Thursday\u2019s injury report.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chiefs didn\u2019t need more issues at receiver. Marquise Brown (shoulder) and Rashee Rice (knee) are expected to miss months, if not the rest of the season. While Kansas City is expected to\u00a0look for outside help\u00a0for a receiver, news coming out of Chiefs\u2019 practice on Wednesday might hasten the search.<\/span><\/p>\n

Per Pete Sweeney of\u00a0Arrowhead Pride,<\/em>\u00a0wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster\u00a0was limited in practice\u00a0on Thursday due to a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

<\/span>\u201cThe injury report for the\u00a0<\/span>Chiefs<\/span>\u00a0is the same as yesterday,\u00a0except<\/span>\u00a0for the addition of WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was\u00a0limited<\/span>\u00a0on Thursday due to a hamstring issue,\u201d Sweeney wrote. \u201cNever a good sign to see a player pop up midweek. We\u2019ll see what his final status is on Friday afternoon.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Chiefs signed Smith-Schuster before the season as an insurance policy at the wide receiver position. He was the\u00a0leading receiver\u00a0for Kansas City in their Week 5 win over the New Orleans Saints when he caught seven passes for 130 yards.<\/span><\/p>\n

If the former Pittsburgh Steelers second-round pick cannot play on Sunday, the Chiefs would have limited options against the 49ers. Besides Smith-Schuster, the Chiefs have relievers Xavier Worthy, Justin Watson, Mecole Hardman, and Skyy Moore on the 53-man roster. Of that group, only Worthy had more than 100 yards receiving this season.<\/p>\n
