Liam Payne<\/span>\u00a0had been dropped by his record label Universal Music just days before he plunged to his death in Argentina from a hotel balcony, the Mail can reveal.<\/p>\n

Originally signed to Sony as part of\u00a0One Direction<\/span>, Liam penned a deal with\u00a0Capitol<\/span>\u00a0Records, a label owned by Universal, in July 2016 when he launched his solo career at just 22 years old.<\/p>\n

Liam was said to have been ‘thrilled’ when he signed to Capitol in what was understood to have been a very lucrative deal.<\/p>\n

The label is a subsidiary of Universal, but in the company’s recent reshuffle he came under the main label.<\/p>\n

This evening, Universal Music Group posted an image of Liam Payne on\u00a0Instagram<\/span>\u00a0saying they were ‘devastated’ about his death.<\/p>\n
