Just 13 days after opening his 21-day practice window,\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is back on the 53-man roster for the team.<\/p>\n

According to the NFL’s daily personnel notice for Tuesday, October 15, the Chiefs have activated Edwards-Helaire to the 53-man roster. He returns to action\u00a0after a brief stint on the Non-Football Illness list\u00a0as he dealt with\u00a0cyclic vomiting syndrome as a result of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder\u00a0(PTSD).<\/p>\n

Chiefs HC Andy Reid commented on Edwards-Helaire’s potential return\u00a0when speaking to the media on Monday. He hesitated to commit to his activation for Week 7 against the\u00a0San Francisco 49ers.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, so he’ll be back in tomorrow,” Reid told reporters. “We’ll be able to talk to him then. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him here, so I want to just get with him first before I put anything out there publicly. But we’re awfully glad to have him here.”<\/p>\n

Edwards-Helaire’s return gives the Chiefs four running backs on the 53-man roster. He’ll reinforce a room\u00a0that currently features Kareem Hunt, Samaje Perine, and Carson Steele while RB Isiah Pacheco remains on injured reserve. Remember, there are no guarantees\u00a0that Pacheco will return for the 2024 NFL season.<\/p>\n

The former No. 32 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft has appeared in 48 career games with Kansas City, including 32 games started. He has recorded 441 attempts for 1,845 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 89 passes for 765 yards and seven touchdowns. He\u2019s appeared in eight postseason games with two starts, carrying the ball 39 times for 220 yards and one touchdown.<\/p>\n

Another thing to remember about Edwards-Helaire is his pass-catching ability led to him\u00a0practicing as a wide receiver ahead of Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>. His return might be about providing another reliable and trusted pass-catcher for Patrick Mahomes and the offense as they deal with injuries to WRs Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice.<\/p>\n
