The\u00a0New York Jets\u00a0could be on the cusp of dealing\u00a0Mike Williams, after\u00a0acquiring All-Pro Davante Adams in a blockbuster trade\u00a0with the Las Vegas Raiders.<\/span><\/p>\nEast Rutherford, NJ \u2014 September 29 \u2014 Mike Williams of the Jets made this catch in the first half as the Denver Broncos edged the New York Jets 10-9 at MetLife Stadium.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Williams, 30, has not been a scheme fit with the Jets while struggling to get on the same page with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, so it would make sense for New York to try to move on, especially to recoup some of the draft capital given up in the Adams deal.<\/span><\/p>\n
Now that Williams is available, general manager Omar Khan and the Pittsburgh Steelers should make an aggressive push to make a deal before the trade deadline.<\/p>\n
What Mike Williams Would Bring the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/h2>\nEast Rutherford, NJ \u2014 October 14, 2024 \u2014 A pass intended for Mike Williams of the Jets is intercepted by Taron Johnson of Buffalo ending a late game drive for the Jets. The Buffalo Bills came to MetLife Stadium to play the NY Jets. The Jets played their first game under new interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
Williams might not be the same receiver that he was, but he remains potentially an ideal complement opposite George Pickens.<\/span><\/p>\n
Pittsburgh has struggled of late to get Pickens consistently involved in the offense, and head coach Mike Tomlin is now considering making a switch from quarterback Justin Fields to Russell Wilson, which may accelerate the need for adding a player like Williams into the passing game.<\/span><\/p>\n
Given Wilson\u2019s propensity for throwing jump balls, Williams may be exactly what the vertical passing offense needs to get going for the Steelers, if Wilson becomes the starter.<\/p>\n
Likewise, since opposing secondaries would need to account for Williams opposite Pickens, it becomes much more difficult to double-team or shade the best defensive back to Pickens\u2019 side, potentially creating opportunities for the Steelers\u2019 other weapons to get involved.<\/p>\n
