If we only look at their record, one would say the 2024\u00a0NFL<\/strong>\u00a0season started perfectly for the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs<\/strong>. However, their list of injured players proves\u00a0Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Brett Veach can\u2019t be completely satisfied<\/strong>\u00a0at the moment.<\/p>\n The head coach had even\u00a0worse news on Monday<\/strong>, with\u00a0Reid confirming the Chiefs are losing a key weapon for the rest of the season\u00a0as\u00a0Rashee Rice<\/strong>\u2018s time of recovery could be similar to that of an ACL tear.<\/p>\n Kansas City\u00a0had already lost an important wideout in Marquise \u201cHollywood\u201d Brown<\/strong>, who sustained a sternoclavicular joint dislocation in preseason. Rice stepped up during Brown\u2019s absence, but now that both are on the sidelines, many wonder whether the\u00a0Chiefs\u00a0will\u00a0make a move.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the coach,\u00a0that may not be necessary<\/strong>.\u00a0Reid made it clear to Mahomes\u00a0a few weeks ago that he believes in all the Chiefs\u2019 wideouts, and he once again suggested Veach\u00a0shouldn\u2019t be looking for options in the market<\/strong>. With Brown and Rice out,\u00a0Mahomes\u00a0is only counting on the following wideouts:\u00a0Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Justin Watson, Mecole Hardman, and Skyy Moore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Worthy is expected to step up, but he\u2019s still a rookie. And while Rice did it in 2023, not all cases are the same.\u00a0Reid and Mahomes may have found a new weapon\u00a0in Smith-Schuster, who has the biggest chance to shine now, like he already did in Week 5 against the Saints. But the question is whether these performances\u00a0will be consistent<\/strong>, and also\u00a0if it will be enough<\/strong>\u00a0for Mahomes to have only two productive wideouts for the remainder of the 2024\u00a0NFL\u00a0season.<\/p>\n The Chiefs also lost their starting running back with Isiah Pacheco\u2019s fractured fibula,\u00a0but Kareem Hunt has helped the team move past that<\/strong>. Besides, the running back room\u00a0looks more complete<\/strong>\u00a0than the WR group.<\/p>\n Rice\u2019s injury has linked the team to various wideouts, with\u00a0Reid being urged to consider a teammate of CJ Stroud on the Texans, among other potential targets for the Chiefs. Regardless, the coach appears satisfied with his in-house alternatives.
