{"id":12494,"date":"2024-10-15T02:30:24","date_gmt":"2024-10-15T02:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportnews.drinkfood.info\/?p=12494"},"modified":"2024-10-15T02:30:24","modified_gmt":"2024-10-15T02:30:24","slug":"jannik-sinner-makes-doping-scandal-admission-after-novak-djokovic-battle-in-shanghai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportnews.drinkfood.info\/?p=12494","title":{"rendered":"Jannik Sinner makes doping scandal admission after Novak Djokovic battle in Shanghai"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\" img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21790408\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/GettyImages-2178196346.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;zoom=1&amp;resize=644%2C429\" alt=\"2024 Shanghai Rolex Masters - Day 14 (Finals)\" width=\"644\" height=\"429\" data-rsz=\"shrink\" \/><\/div><figcaption>Jannik Sinner clinched the Shanghai Masters title on Sunday (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jannik Sinner\u00a0admits he\u2019s \u2018lost his smile a bit\u2019 over\u00a0the doping scandal\u00a0which rocked tennis and means he could still be potentially facing a two-year ban.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner has always\u00a0denied any wrongdoing\u00a0over his two failed drug tests from March \u2013 but the saga isn\u2019t over after\u00a0the World Anti-Doping Agency\u2019s appeal.<\/p>\n<p>Their appeal is now before the Court of Arbitration for Sport \u2013 who officially registered it on October 4 \u2013 and they are in the process of setting up a hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of that hearing, and after his showdown with\u00a0Novak Djokovic\u00a0in the final of the Shanghai Masters, which Sinner won 7-6 (7-4) 6-3, the Italian world No.1 said: \u2018This year has been very, very tough for me.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018You know, at points I lost a little bit of [my] smile because I had some issues off the court, and then they\u2019re still in my mind sometimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So, it\u2019s never easy to play in these kind of circumstances where I am in, but, you know, I just tried to enjoy in the best possible way I can on the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018And, you know, obviously success is something great, and then it\u2019s nice to say thanks to all the people who are working with me daily, who knows me more than most likely all the other people.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So, I just try to stay very calm, and not making any problems if you miss shots or you get unlucky sometimes, just trying to keep pushing with the best energy I have in that day.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Every day\u2019s a bit different, so I\u2019m happy how I\u2019m handling the situations on the court. I try to control what I can control, and that\u2019s, for sure, the mind, and also the physical aspect you can control.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But the rest, you know, you just have to believe, and trying to stay composed, and especially in important moments in a match.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jannik Sinner vs Novak Djokovic For The Title \ud83c\udfc6  | Shanghai 2024 Final Highlights\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fQfvkym38MM?feature=oembed\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u2018You know, people, they think that by winning or having success that you don\u2019t have any problems. But it\u2019s not true, you know, because I\u2019m in the situation where I\u2019m in, obviously, it\u2019s not comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I wish I would not be in this position where I am right now off the court, and playing freely more on the court, and trying even to enjoy it a little bit more.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But, you know, you have to accept it. I feel like that I\u2019m strong when I go on the court, trying to not think about it, and trying to stay focused about everything I do, and I give a hundred percent in every single match or practice, or when I wake up I try to be focused on every single thing I do.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But then, of course, I have moments where I think about it, which is not comfortable, and not the best part.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So, yeah, you take the success in a different way, and I think that\u2019s what I learned is that the success will never change me as a person, or as a player also because, you know, next tournament I can go far again, or I could lose the first round, but it\u2019s not going to change me as a person, as a human.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So, I\u2019m very glad to all the people that I have around, and they know me very, very good, and know how I am, and I know who the people that I can trust to, and that for me is the most important.
