The Dallas Cowboys are now 3-2 on the season heading into a mammoth game against the Detroit Lions. Going into the bye week with a 4-2 record would be the best-case scenario given their injury list.<\/p>\n
DaRon Bland is expected back this week and Micah Parsons could return as soon as Week 8. Reinforcements are on the way, but Cowboys fans still wouldn’t be opposed to a trade for a pass rusher and nose tackle. There seemingly isn’t a great injury to make a trade to improve the defense, but the offense is a completely different story.<\/p>\n
Even though Jalen Tolbert had a career game when Dallas needed it most, Dak Prescott needs another receiver. Well, Raiders have granted Davante Adams permission to seek a trade before the Nov. 5 deadline. One of the best WRs of the last decade, Adams would be a great addition to any team.<\/p>\n
The Cowboys reportedly “checked in” on Adams in the early stages, but the inevitable has now been confirmed about their supposed pursuit.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, the Cowboys are one of four teams that have pulled out of the Adams sweepstakes. The Chiefs, Commanders and Ravens are the others. Reed circled the Jets, who feel like the prohibitive favorites to land Adams, Saints, Steelers and Ravens as teams still in the race.<\/p>\n
No surprises there, folks. Multiple Cowboys insiders have reported\u00a0the team never showed any interest in an Adams trade.<\/p>\n
At $22.15 million,\u00a0Dallas actually has the seventh-most cap space in the NFL. They have enough wiggle room to absorb Adams’ contract, but they want that money to carry over into 2025 when they will have to navigate free agency, a record deal for Micah Parsons as well as paying other homegrown players.<\/p>\n
Despite Jerry Jones “all-in” promise this past offseason, the 2024 season has long felt more like a soft rebuild than an aggressive pursuit of a championship.<\/p>\n
While Adams could have an Amari-Cooper-like impact on the offense, Dallas’ offense isn’t broken like it was in 2018 prior to Cooper’s arrival.<\/p>\n
Prescott is playing at a high level, CeeDee Lamb is still awesome, Jake Ferguson is one of the best young tight ends in the game, and the Jalen Tolbert breakout might finally be happening.\u00a0It’s less than what most top quarterbacks are working with, but Prescott has grown comfortable – probably too comfortable – doing more with less thanks to this front office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
