The Dallas Cowboys were able to pull out a win against the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football in an effort to get their season back on track, but they did not escape unharmed.

The 20-15 victory has Cowboys players and fans feeling as good as they have since their week one blowout of the Cleveland Browns, but any momentum gained in their Thursday win might have to hold more weight as defensive centerpiece Micah Parsons was injured.

After a negative MRI after the game, it was revealed Friday by NFL insider Ian Rapoport that Parsons suffered a high-ankle sprain.

Parsons was rushing the Giants quarterback Daniel Jones near the end of the game when he got tangled up with New York offensive linemen. The full weight of Giants offensive lineman Greg Van Roten was put on Parsons’ leg, causing him to eventually be carted to the locker room after getting off the field without a cart.

Parsons was spotted walking gingerly after the game before any official injury diagnosis was given to the media.

Parsons’ status moving forward is unknown, but the injury happened at an opportune time for Parsons and the Cowboys. After playing on Thursday Night Football, the Cowboys will have a long weekend to get healthy.

In an article from ESPN, Parsons said he would try to get back for the Cowboys’ next game.

“Right now, I just iced it,” Parsons said, sitting at his locker with his left ankle taped. “I know very little. I’ve got an MRI [Friday], and I’m going to try to get back next week.”

No Sunday game means Dallas will have 10 days to recover and gear up for a hardnosed battle against the leaders of the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
