Dallas Cowboys, the team that had a 16-game winning streak at home, recorded three back-to-back home game losses including last season’s playoff game. Amid the struggle, quarterback Dak Prescott’s performance has been intensely scrutinized despite leading in the league with 851 yards.
Following Monday’s game, the quarterback once again became the target of fans after losing to the Baltimore Ravens by three points. Fans even claimed that they would stop supporting the Cowboys, which prompted Prescott to bluntly suggest they quit the team. Shortly after that incident, he ditched the local media press conference ahead of the upcoming match.
The three-time Pro Bowler is headed for a week 4 matchup against the New York Giants, against whom he has a remarkable 12-2 record. However, there’s something different as he has refused to speak to the local media before the game. The true reason behind this decision remains unclear, although the team’s explanation cites the short week as the cause.
In his eight-year career in the NFL, the signal-caller has rarely stepped back from addressing the media that’s why his recent decision has shocked many. The Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins revealed the news, while also sharing that Prescott was interviewed for the Amazon broadcast crew.
The reason why many are questioning the credibility of the official explanation is that Prescott has never skipped a media interaction because of a short week. The team had short weeks before games previously, but the quarterback has always appeared before the media.
Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb addresses sideline spat with Dak Prescott
The Monday Night Football game created tons of controversies concerning the Cowboys, including a potential rift between Dak Prescott and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb– both of whom were extended this offseason in one of the highest-paid deals. The speculations about them began when the latter was seen yelling at the former at the sideline and appeared really frustrated.
Lamb also didn’t speak to the media in the post-game press conference, leaving the quarterback and his team to take responsibility. However, during the recent media interaction, he dismissed the brewing speculations about a rift between him and Prescott by saying they are brothers.
Additionally, he took responsibility for his mistakes in week 3’s game which, at some point contributed to the 28-25 loss. He also apologized to the fans not only for his performance but also for his attitude after the match.
