Pep Guardiola recently discussed his future at Manchester City during an interview on the Italian show ‘Che Tempo Che Fa’, where he clarified that he has not made any definitive decisions yet.
Amid rumors linking him to a possible exit from City at the end of his contract, Guardiola stated that he has not decided whether he will continue or leave. “It’s not true that I’m leaving; I haven’t decided yet. If I knew, I would say it,” the coach remarked, addressing speculation about his future.
Now in his ninth season with Manchester City, Guardiola has achieved historic success, including the treble in the 2022-2023 season, a feat he has accomplished twice (once with Barcelona in 2009 and with City in 2023).
During the interview, Guardiola emphasized his strong connection with both the club and the city of Manchester, but also acknowledged that challenges in football are ever-changing. When the time comes, he said, he will make the best decision for both himself and the club. “I love being here, but football always demands more, and you have to be prepared,” he said.
Guardiola also took the opportunity to reflect on key figures in his career, such as Johan Cruyff and Roberto Baggio, with whom he shared pivotal moments.
Regarding Cruyff, Guardiola said: “I can’t imagine my path in football without him; he was a genius who taught me to understand the game in a different way,” highlighting the crucial influence of his mentor on his coaching philosophy.
With his contract set to expire in 2025, Guardiola continues to leave the door open for what the future holds.
